Ginger
Ginger (Zingiber officinale), the common spice, comes from the root of the ginger plant. It is ingested fresh in tea, stir fry, or curries. The powdered form is used in baked goods. Crystallized ginger is a tasty candy. Medicinal doses can be taken encapsulated.

Cautions: To minimize the possibility of a burning stomach, take the herb with food. Acts as a blood thinner so discontinue use two weeks before surgery. No more than 1,000 mg. per day during pregnancy.
